Description

Nestled in the heart of the ancient market town of Liskeard, hidden away down a typically Cornish narrow lane, The Hideaway is a two-bedroom home, that sleeps 4 in relaxed comfort (Double and a twin room). A two-story house, the ground floor consists of an open plan, lounge, kitchen/diner that leads onto a cozy rear courtyard.  The bedrooms and shower room are reached via an internal floating slate staircase (n.b. not suitable for those who have difficulty with stairs).

UK Escapes’, The Hideaway, offers a wonderful base from which to explore everything Cornwall has to offer, its location means that after a long drive south, the minute you cross the Tamar Bridge into South Cornwall you are just 15 minutes from your destination; you can settle in and plan the rest of your holiday without pushing further into the county until you are relaxed and ready for some amazing day trips . . . and with most of the major attractions of Cornwall being well under an hour away, there are plenty to be had!

You don’t even need to go far to get started, as the beautiful fishing villages of Looe and Polperro are just 15 and 20 minutes drive away; offering a great first taste of Cornwall . . . quite literally if you like fresh fish!

Looe is a great place to relax and unwind, and if you enjoy a drink with lunch or simply want to use the gorgeous sandy beach on a hot summer’s day and avoid the traffic, you can catch the train into Looe straight from Liskeard.  The scenic Looe Valley Line drops down onto the Looe estuary with some amazing views along the way!  Just 10mins walk from The Hideaway, Liskeard train station is easy to access, and with a return trip to Looe costing just a few pounds, it’s an experience we would thoroughly recommend.

For those who love walking, Liskeard is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside; a popular natural local attraction being Golitha Falls, where you can take a walk through ancient woodland along the River Fowey. North of the town lies the rugged landscape of Bodmin Moor with plenty to satisfy the most adventurous hikers.

But If you don’t feel like traveling, you can start your explorations much closer to home, as The Hideaway is located on the Liskeard Heritage Trail; step right out of your front door and into history! This walk, through the historical town of Liskeard, should take at most 1.5 hours to complete. The walking trail will take you past the Pipe Well, St Martin’s Church, the Bull Stone, along delightful pedestrianised Fore Street where many of the shops still retain their Victorian shop fronts and past Stuart House. Feeling peckish? There’s a host of great friendly cafés in town where you can enjoy a spot of lunch, or if the weather’s kind, pick up a pasty from one of the local bakeries and savor your lunch in peaceful Westbourne Gardens right next to The Hideaway – original Cornish street food to go!

Of course, if picturesque Cornish fishing villages, relaxing walks and beautiful countryside are not your thing . . . or more likely (like us) you need to include fun activities for the kids, then we are sure local attractions such as Adrenaline QuarryCarnglaze Caverns, and Liskeard Leisure centre will be more than enough to keep them amused.  Liskeard is also home to many of the region’s surfers and sailing enthusiasts as it’s close to many of the popular beaches and resorts along the south Cornish coast and at Plymouth Sound, so if you love getting wet then this is a great spot to enjoy some amazing adventures.

And when your day is over and you just want to relax and unwind you can enjoy a refreshing drink in The Hideaways comfortable courtyard garden, or just relax in the well-appointed open plan living accommodation. Settle down with a good book or get comfortable and watch a movie, after an exciting day exploring everything Cornwall has to offer we’re sure you will have earned the rest!
