Description
Located just a few minutes’ drive from Freshwater, The Beach Hut is part of Brambles Chine, a 40-acre privately owned holiday park, nestled in a rural location on a hilltop above Colwell Bay, benefiting from amazing sea views out over the Solent to The Needles. This means you have the added benefit of being able to walk to the beach in just a couple of minutes, which is great for when you fancy a dip or even some night time rock pooling!
The chalet sleeps 4 in two bedrooms (a double and a twin room), and benefits from an open plan lounge with a dining area and kitchenette, all fully equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The main reason we bought this property is the view, it is simply stunning! We’ve spent many hours sitting on the patio watching the boats sail by, relaxing and unwinding with a cold glass or two. We chose The Beach Hut as it benefits from a fantastic view out to the famous ‘Needles‘ landmark and is a hidden secluded spot, ultimately making it a choice that was just impossible to beat. The secluded element was a great decision and means you can relax on the patio in the evening and just watch the goings-on in Colwell Bay below . . . one of our favorite things to do on a summer’s evening.
The Brambles Chine site has large amounts of space to run around in, as well as access to all Brambles Chine facilities, including a shop, launderette, crazy golf, pitch and putt, playground, and football pitch. Being directly on the famous Isle of Wight coastal path there are many good walks around and plenty of nature too; it’s always a pleasure to see the rabbits on the field in front of the bungalow in the mornings.
We do find that we live very differently here, the outside just calls to you, the TV goes off and you take a ball down to Colwell beach instead, or sit on the patio and settle down with a good book . . . it’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle.
With nothing on the Island being too far away, Brambles Chine is a perfect spot to retire to at the end of a busy day as more often than not, even in the height of the holidays the site is never too busy and you always feel relaxed on returning and taking in the surrounding views.
We hope you will make amazing memories there, just like we have.

Things to do on The Isle of Wight
The great thing about the Isle of Wight is there is so much to do and nothing is too far away! Everything we have listed here we have seen and experienced for ourselves, so these are our own personal recommendations, we hope you will have as much fun making memories here as we have.
The best-known landmark on the Island and visible from The Beach Hut patio. We recommend the chair lift down to the beach and a fast rib ride around the Needles, and if you have the time a walkout to the Old Battery as well for some amazing views and an interesting slice of history.
Always a good one for the kids, wetsuits are included and they'll have a blast and wear themselves out without even realising it! Part of Tapnell farm adventure park.
Even if you are not into trains this is a good day out, be sure to walk around the museum, and if you can, book a carriage to yourselves for that extra special VIP feel.
Tricky to find but worth it when you do (walk down the road by the side of the Cricket Pitch), not much to do but just a nice walk (plenty of stairs!) and a treat at the end - ice cream or cake!
Step back in time with a visit to Queen Victoria's holiday home (just a bit bigger than ours!), the royal children's Swiss Chalet and the beach beyond is always a favorite destination for our kids.
Well worth a visit if you like crawling around castles, but make sure you do it on a day with no wind otherwise they tend to close the ramparts. They also put on plenty of activities during the holidays, so do your research before you go.
Definitely not like a tourist attraction on the mainland as the number of things to do is limited but if you have young children there is enough to do for a good day out. Ours used to love it here, just don't expect big rides, it's like something from a few decades ago but good fun for the kids once they suss everything out.
Traditional seaside fun! A great sandy beach the kids will love and a good old-fashioned pier for some penny slots and a good indoor pirate-themed crazy golf course. Travel to the very end of the beach for more amusements e.g. karting, crazy golf, and climbing nets. Sandown is also a great place for a spot of bodyboarding if the waves on our beach are not up to much.
Places to Eat
There are lots of great places to eat on the Isle of Wight, some are close by, others will require a bit of a drive, here are a few of our favourites:
You can't miss it, you can see it from the patio of the Beach Hut, down in Colwell Bay. Very nice food, if a little pricey and don't go if you don't like yachties!!
One of our favorite restaurants, located just a few minutes away by car from The Beach Hut, in Yarmouth. Local meat & fish cooked on your own 'hot rock', lovely! Just don't wear your best clothes, can get a bit smokey.
Around a 20min drive away from The Beach Hut and Freshwater, but a lovely traditional pub with a big garden for the kids and the homemade Steak and Ale pie is worth the visit!
A reasonable drive away from the The Beach Hut as it is over in Shanklin, but the views are lovely and the food is delicious; well worth a visit.
Traditional family pub; good selection of food and well priced. As it's a family pub has a good garden for the kids to run around and play in. Not too far from The Beach Hut, around 10mins, the other side of Yarmouth.
Lovely pub in Shalfleet about 15mins away from The Beach Hut, really lovely food and a cozy pub feel. Not great for young families though.
